InterBase XE7 – First Look Events!!

InterBase XE7 First look live and online!

Starting with the InterBase Product Address at CodeRage 9 news about the new edition of InterBase has been slowly spreading.

InterBase project DeltaForce, named due to its new patent pending technology for tracking and querying of deltas, is a highly scalable, low footprint answer to a number of distributed data set questions.

I’m really excited about what we have coming up in the InterBase XE7 preview events.  I will be hitting the road over the coming weeks in person to present and talk to developers, system architects etc about what InterBase DeltaForce (XE7) can help you achieve and how it can dramatically assist you throughout the product life cycle.

InterBase XE7 First Look – LIVE!

I will be in the following cities over the next few weeks for live preview workshops

  1. I would like to use interbase but have always been put off by lack of well developed GUI tools. Could you please put some work into this? I know there are some free tools out there but, could you integrate DB creation and browsing into RAD studio itself. Maybe this is already there and I am not aware of it. Either way, let me know. Please.

  2. The DeltaForce stuff looks interesting. To what extent does it provide support for multi-master replication? For our applications we want to run two (and potentially more than two) entirely independent databases which can be updated separately and will keep each other in sync through replication.

    1. Hi Jim, You could have a change view in both databases and use that to find what is new and changed and then manually merge that together. The FireDAC components in XE8 are excellent for doing this work. You could even have an application connected using call backs to get notice of that change happening. See this YouTube Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFHkTB0mv6U

  3. You can use some cool tools like Embarcadero’s Rapid SQL http://www.embarcadero.com/products/rapid-sql – InterBase also works with ER/Studio for reverse engineering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hq0wOxdLyM

While not on par with Rapid, IBConsole has moved forward as well and has performance monitoring built in for the limited about you need to use with a self tuning engine like InterBase. Also check out my blog post on the data explorer. You can read and work with data from there as well to a limited point. http://delphiaball.co.uk/2014/07/31/using-the-data-explorer-with-firedac/
